history

What of Hua Hin and Cha Am if not for the Southern Railroad? We’ll never know. Almost a century ago, that link between Bangkok and the Malaysian border was built. The rest is history. Hua Hin and Cha Am became a stop on that line and, practically overnight, a destination unto itself. Some of the more popular and compelling historical sites in the region include:

Hua Hin Railway Station, one of the oldest train stations in Thailand.

Sofitel Central Hua Hin, opened in 1923 as the region's first lodging option -- the Railway Hotel.

Royal Hua Hin Golf Club, the first golf course in Thailand (est. 1924).

Marukkatayawan Palace, the former summer residence of King Rama VI.
