“Traffic and noise are annoying,” says Jamnong Bootsong, executive assistant manager at this resort about 10 minutes outside downtown Hua Hin. “Here, it’s all about privacy.” No question about that. Not only are most of the 67 units set well away from the lobby, restaurant and main pool area, they are sufficiently separated from one another, thanks to high walls and hedges.

If the solitude doesn’t strike you at first, the architecture will. A contemporary collage of browns, grays and greens, the resort blends seamlessly into the rural landscape, teeming with natural lagoons, cattail, sugar cane and rice. Wooden, elevated walkways connect the villas - all with sala roof gardens - to the public parts of the property, including the creatively imagined thatched-roof, bamboo-walled, open-air spa pavilion.

fast facts

Sister Act: If you fancy even more intimacy, ask for one of the 19 bungalows at AKA Resort’s Guti Kiri property, just five minutes farther up the road.

Noble Neighbor: The Queen of Thailand likes the air up here, as well. She’s building her own ‘little’ escape, right across the road. The queen’s Mulberry Garden is just around the corner, too.

Getting There: Less than 10 kilometers off the main drag in Hua Hin, due west. The route past Itisukhato Temple is fastest.
